kmode error

How do I boot from my win 2000 cd? I have a blue screen
with a kmode error everytime i boot normally. How do I use
the cd to boot from, and can I copy the operating system
from the cd to the drive without losing information
(documents ) that I have in folders?

Have you tried safe mode?
 
try removing hardware bit by bit, starting from CDROM, Floppy, Additional
Hardware (3D cards, Capture Cards etc.). Boot after every removal of
hardware unit and see if it starts!!!
