My copy of KIS6 was delivered this morning - very quick. I have read the little instruction leaflet, and understand that I must uninstall AVG before installing KIS6 (on Vista). But it made me wonder whether it would be necessary to disable Windows own firewall before I begin please? (After first disconnecting from the internet, of course:nod: )

I'll not be doing it until a bit later on, as I shortly will need to pop out for a while. Thank you in advance for any advice :thumb: :D

Yep, uninstall any AV before installing another ... they fight if you don't. ;)

KIS will quite happily disable Vista's firewall for you ... you will get a couple of pop-ups stating that fact ... just finish the install and all will be well.

Do not disconnect from the Internet ... KIS will want to automatically look for updates off the net. You can set the times later, for further updates, at your convenience.

Thank you Mucks :thumb: I like to confirm these things rather than make a boo-boo :D

All done and it's first full scan came up clean... although to be fair, I don't think this PC has had much chance to get "dirty" yet  I like the interface of the programme, it seems to be easy to navigate - although I am still learning about what's what of course. But the on-screen "Help" is very useful and quite clearly written... meaning that I could understand some of it :p Thank you for the original recommendation Mucks :thumb: I feel much happier with the protection KIS6 can offer.

oh, if you think that is good ... wait till you see KIS 7 ... they improved on KIS 6

It's not often a company can do that ...

If you want to beat the rush, as we who use Kaspersky have done so already, I can PM you the direct download ... don't worry, I ain't jumpin the gun or doing anything naughty, Kaspersky Labs has 7 obscurely posted on their own forums.

Really? You mean they would allow the upgrade just like that? Gosh thank you. By the way - it has just declared my PC Review email (subscribed posts) as SPAM!

Yep ... it is, innit.

That will get easier as your "train" it what is what ... I get Spam all the time from BT. I leave it that way too ... I don't think I need to tell you how to change it. ;)

PM on the way ...

No problem, you is welcome ...

... and just to answer your other question.

Yes  , Kaspersky Labs allow you to upgrade to the next version release, not just the defs ... so, if they release ver 8 before your licence expires, you get it for free. :thumb:

oh, and the program does what it says on the tin.
