My boss would like for me to come up with a Kiosk solution for IE6 but
we would like the back and forward buttons. I would even be happy with
a normal IE 6 window that just couldn't be closed or minimized. The
goal is to make the machines only able to browse the internet. I can
accomplish this I believe by running a start up script that launches IE
right away, as long as I can make sure they can't get out of IE.

I will be disabling the alt and control buttons along with the F4 and
F11 buttons.

Does anyone have any ideas, I have been researching for a couple days
and haven't found anything that I am totally happy with and we don't
want to spend a lot of money if we can avoid it.

Thanks,

Mykk

Hi Mykk,

Download the IEAK 6 or now 7 from Microsoft as a start. It documents all of
the policy restrictions that you can apply to a vanilla MSIE.

You could also search MS for adm scripts which are used in network bootups
to configure clients. You should be able to find one for a Kiosk client.

There are also some commercial applications. Browser Bob is one that comes
to mind.

Regards.

You can use the registry to restrict IE:

Or you can get a third party app like this one to do all the work for you in
the registry:

Or you can go for a pure kiosk browser solution like:
