Killing the Modem Sound

Every time I install or upgrade a Win OS, invariably I reset the modem sound, so the modem is heard
when I dial out. It then takes me a few months to accidentally stumble onto the checkbox to turn it
off. I'm back to that stage after upgrading to W2000 from NT 4.0. I always seem to search the
following four places in Control Panel:

System Icon-->Devices-->Modem
Network and Dial Up
Internet Options
Phone and Modem

Again I've done this and come up empty. All I can find is a volume control, and it doesn't do it. As
I typed the above, I vaguely recall that maybe the setting is in Netscape. Maybe. I do remember it
is a rather obvious (Ha!) checkbox whenever I discover it.

Remember to drink an adequate amount of dihydrogen oxide each day.

click]>Properties>Modem Tab>Speaker Volume

Been there. Done that. I'm pretty sure I'm looking for a checkbox somewhere in the bowls of the w2000.

I've seen these checkboxes on W9x only and it depends on vendor's driver.
ModemProperties/Advanced/ExtraSettings: ATM0 turns off Hayes-compatible
modem sound.
