Hi All,

I just pulled my hair out trying to log back on as the administrator
of my home/ personal /single user /windows 2000 professional /pc.. I
have no password stored at all, but I hit the far right enter key
instead of the enter key above shift..

Anyway, how do I get rid of that annoying box that asks for your user
name and password?

Also, I noticed I have 5 user accounts listed besides the
"Administrator"..

I have; SYSTEM, Everyone, Power Users, Users & All Users..!!! What is
up with that..?

Please help.. Thanks in advance for any help and suggestions..

*** Hold the shift key while logging off.

*** No idea what this means.

*** Control Panel|Users and Passwords, then uncheck the box for "Users must
enter a user name and password to use this computer"

*** The Administrator and Guest account is a built-in account and cannot be
deleted. The Guest account by default is disabled.

\All Users provides commonality to all users that logon.

\Default User is an image used to create profiles for new users.

*** The system account (NT Authority) is a built-in account for the
operating system to use. The others are user groups.

Hi Dave,

The Password box is "unchecked" for all users... I have been trying to
network this machine to another through a hardwired router to use the printer
thats hardwired to it.. Is there anywhere else that may have required that
password box to pop up..?

Thanks,

sally~

Hi Dave,

I tried that crack 3 times, didn't work... I still get the pop up bax asking
for me to type out the word administrator and hit enter with no password
after I stored a password.. Very weird.. Possibly it has to do with me having
this pc networked through the LinkSys router to a Mac running OS X 10.4.9...?
I'm at a loss with this one... The pc was always set to boot without that
logon box, I'm thinking after the networking config. is when it started.. I
don't normally shut down the machines.. Any more suggestions...?

Thanks in advance,

sally~

Yes, it will work. Try retracing your steps or post the contents of the;

HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon

subkey
