Hey Ya'll. Me again! I have an old computer that I will donate. I want to
run kill disk to erase the drive, then restall XP. Do you have a doc that I
can read on how to reformat, and partision the drive so I can do the fresh
install of XP. Kill disk brings the hard drive back to square one. I don't
want to pull the drive and throw it out, but keep the Pc whole so I can
donate.

Thanks

You can go far with simply booting the system with XP CD, and running
through a clean install, choosing to delete and recreate the partition. If
you like, you can run killdisk, which you can download here:
http://www.killdisk.com/

If you have further questions regarding it, there is a user guide at that
site.

Thanks! Don't I have to repartision the drive before the new install of XP?
That is what I need help with. I know how to stick in the disk and run the
set up.

Don't partition it. No need to.

Yes, at the start of the install, *Delete* the existing partition and
re-create it.

Just read carefully and follow the prompts. don't select the repair
options.

The one caveat is that partitioning and formatting are *not* available
options if you didn't boot from the CD - if you booted windows and put the
CD in. You must boot from the CD.
