OOPS!

After asking around and tearing my hair over a strange bug in my new
P4/XP system, I find that I had overlooked an obscure entry in my
Opera cookie-handling preferences. I *thought* that I had set up the
new copy of Opera to match the one on my old 98SE system, but I
overlooked a setting.

It sure would have helped if Bank One Online had given me a "Can't set
cookie" message instead of "Invalid username or password."

Because he is giving others a tip??

Why not tell Bank One Online.

I tried to tell Bank One; no response.

Remember, this is a Web site that throws up a "Sorry, you're using the
wrong browser" screen if you aren't using Netscape or MSIE, despite
the fact that Opera will display it correctly if you tell Opera to lie
and announce itself as MSIE 6.0.

Oh, well, it isn't as bad as it was. The first version of Bank One
Online had dozens of pretty-but-useless pictures, which took what felt
like a few hours to download before you got to the first clickable
control. _Every_ online customer must have complained, because they
soon reduced the graphic clutter enough to make the site usable
through a dialup connection.
