Keys not working

I'm having trouble with a group of keys going out at the
same time. They include the G, H, 'delete', 'escape',
and 'apostrophe' keys. These keys always go out as a
group and come back as a group. I've never noticed any of
them going out individually. They seem to do this without
rhyme or reason.

I have an HP Pavilion N5470 laptop, and am running Windows
2000. These keys were going on and off all the time in
February, then stopped causing problems for a few months,
before just starting to act up again today.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Try another keyboard.

I've used an external keyboard when those keys go out, and
have never had a problem with that external keyboard.

I just can't figure out what the one variable is that
causes the group of keys to go out at the same time on the
laptop keyboard.

BTW... I mistyped in the original message. The 'delete'
key works when the problem is occurring. I meant to
type 'backspace'.

Your internal keyboard scanning circuit has probably developed
a fault. This is unlikely to be a Win2000 issue, and you can
easily prove it. Next time you have the problem, reboot the
laptop with a Win98 boot disk from www.bootdisk.com. If the
keyboard still fails then you know for sure that your hardware
is flawed.

.
Thanks for the bootdisk suggestion. I'm going to give
that a shot to try to narrow the problem down.
