I removed a keylogger and rebooted XP.
on typing the first character of the logon password the keyboard and mouse
freezes

It would appear the keylogger was removed, but the antispyware program did
not correctly repair the keyboard 'hook'

How do I regain access to my computer as I cannot logon?

Hi

If you have any name of this keylogger perform a Google search.
Symantec often has excellent descriptions for manual removals.

Maybe it´s possible to start your PC in failsafe mode, F8 during start.

Also a system restore either from failsafe mode or Cmd maybe is
possible.

The keylogger is maybe back after SR but check your search results
for removals.

One other way is to call No-Charge Support
1-866-PCSAFETY
or
1-866-727-2338

Report this to your Police and ISP to try to find out who planted this
keylogger. It´s an criminal act !

My experience with bad keyboard or mouse drivers is safe mode will not help
(don't know why). The times I have had problems is when the keyboard or
mouse is connected to the serial ports. If I use a usb keyboard and/or
mouse, I can get into the system and then re-install the appropriate drivers
and switch the keyboard and/or mouse back to the serial ports using an
adapter (usb to serial). If you don't have a usb or wireless keyboard, then
get one (nice to have as a backup for just general keyboard failure). If you
are having the problem you indicated even with a usb keyboard, then I have no
solution for you.
