I use an old PS/2 keyboard connected to my laptop.
Lately, on starting up, when the password dialog box
comes up, I am unable to type the password. The keyboard
won't let me type. All other aspects of this keyboard are
working.

So I revert to the touch pad on my laptop. Sometimes I
can log in there and sometimes this error message appears:

"The system could not log you on. Make sure your Username
and domain are correct then type your password
again...correct case".

Trying to fix this, I went to Computer Management, System
Tools and looked for Local Users. It is NOT listed in the
tree.

Please advise me - anyone?

If this is XP Home, you won't find that Local Users and Groups. Instead,
use Control Panel> User Accounts

Obviously "correct case" is referring to upper/lower case letters. What is
not as obvious is that the user name/passwords are case sensitive. NOTE:
Whenever you make a username/password change to your account, log off and
then on before making any further changes to the account.
