About a month ago I upgraded my mom's Dell computer from
ME to XP. Keyboard stopped working at this point (tried
several, none worked). Was able to navigate into control
panel using mouse ... eventually found that by disabling
her "filters" in accessibility options everything worked.
Yesterday, she downloaded DirectX 9 update and was
instructed to reboot. She had set up user passwords
earlier that day. When computer restarted, keyboard did
not work again. This time could not navigate with mouse
because password has to be typed in.
In desperation, tried booting from XP CDrom. No luck. So
tried Repair feature on XP Cd. Went all the way to
installing drivers and verifying language. But now it
wants authentication code to continue. We have the code,
but no way to type it in ... keyboard still not working.
(Tried using both PS/2 and USB keyboards).
