Does anyone know of a program that displays which keys I am currently
pressing - I have a suspect keyboard and I want to see which ones are
busted (not just the text keys, I want to test function and modifier
keys also).

Thanks in advance.

start - run - osk

nope... that lets me type with the mouse. I need a program that will
tell me if it registered a keypress or not (and not just the text keys,
so I can't use notepad)

Twenty years ago I had a program from somewhere that would test every key.
But I forgot the name<SIGH>

DOS:
Toets1.exe

* Keyboard tester: It will test all the keys of your PC's keyboard
* Nice graphical version
* It will also show the Scancodes and ASCII values.

http://www.dsh2000.com/Toets1.exe

Cheers!

Thanks for the link, but that was not the program since it was from an American
outfit.
I now remember that many of the tests were part of the diagnostics that came
with machines so here is a link to a place that talks about POST test codes
http://bioscentral.com/postcodes/ibmbios.htm
More searching via Google turns up this shareware item

A package of miscellaneous utilities called PCTECH.ZIP contained
a program named KEYBECHO.COM

It echoed every key pressed (one at a time) showing the ASCII value
and a couple of other things.

You can get it at garbo.uwasa.fi in directory /miscutil
