If I'm browsing a folder in "My Computer" and I have a file icon
highlighted, I can run that file just by pressing ENTER.

Is there a keyboard shortcut I can use to open a highlighted text file in
NotePad for editing? Like, CTRL-something?

Thanks!

??? If they are text files they have a .txt extension, just pressing
<Enter> will have Notepad open them. If it doesn't check the .txt file
association and set it to Notepad.

I forgot to mention: they're not '.txt' files, they are script files and
their extension is executable...
I can right-click & select EDIT, but I'd like to do it from the keyboard.

You need to change the Default Action for that extension, from Run to Edit.

Might also be worth looking at the SCiTE or ConTEXT editors, or perhaps the
Servant Salamander filemanager. All of these offer better functionality for
programmers.
