Your keyboard is specified UK instead of US English. Go to Control Panel >
Regional and Language Options and make sure all appropriate entries are set to
English (United States).

Oops. I was assuming WinXP. If you have another OS, go to whatever settings
allow you to make the necessary changes for your location.

Its probably to do with the OS. To explain - did have XP Home - crashed
recently, so installed XP Pro over it. All ok, including keyboard except the
@ and " switch and # and the uk pound sign has gone awl.
Tried what you suggested - tried with settings in Regional and Language
Options both as English (US) and then as English (UK) makes nil change
however. Any other thoughts..?
