Hi,
I am using HP notebook ( xt6200 ) with Windows XP pro service
pack-1. My problems is for past few days, my computer types a
repeated character in any active window. Example if I open
Notepad character "[" or "h" or sometimes "p" gets typed
continuously. Its very difficult to do any work with the
computer.

This problem persist in all the application like wordpad
or "address tap in IE" etc...

Had anybody come accross this before? Any reply is verymuch
helpfull.

Thanks

If you plug in an external keyboard, does the problem persist?

This is a keyboard problem. It can be caused by keys that are stuck or by
debris trapped under the keys. Something as simple as a cat hair or a small
slip of cellophane touching the contact of two keys, for example.

This problem is also caused by having speech recognition turned on in MS
Word or XP.. ensure that SR is disabled..

Vajra,

In an old Win98 SE, I had a problem with a program when I had "mouse trails"
enabled. I disabled it and the program worked just fine...though I doubt
that's your problem.
