Hi,

This problem started today. When I press "e" I get e, but when I next press
Space Bar the "e" changes to "E". The same thing happens with "i". The
other keys seem OK, 'though "q" exhibited this behaviour then reverted to
normal.

AFAIK, this happens only in WORD and POWERPOINT. Notepad and Wordpad are
OK, and Outlook Express E-mail.

I've switched keyboards and get the same result, so it seems to me that the
keyboard is OK.
I've run Ad-Aware, SpyBot and A/V. No change.

What can be the cause of this?

Thank you.

Eureka! I "discovered" in MS Word | Options | Auto-correct, every option
was checked including "Capitalization"!!
It's no coincidence that PowerPoint had the same Auto-correct with every
option checked.
I have unchecked them all.
I'm not familiar with MS Word having used "Works" until recently.
All is well.....................but how could this happen "overnight"?

Hi Andy,

The problem might stem from the AutoCorrect function in Word and Powerpoint.
When you open each, go to Tools>AutoCorrect Options, click in the checkbox
beside "Replace text as you type" to uncheck it and then click on OK.

Regards,

Thank you Patti. As you can see from my second post, that was the problem
exactly. Being new to "Word", I'd never heard of AutoCorrect.
Since the problem seemed to have happened over-night, AutoCorrect must have
auto-applied itself.............................

Thanks again for your interest.
