Why won't the print SCr button on the keyboard work with Vista?

Works for me. It works in exactly the same way as it has since Windows 95.
The "Prt Scr" button only takes a snap-shot of the screen which it copies to
the clipboard. You then paste it into a graphics or graphics capable program
like paint or word and then you can print the image.

There is also the new snipping tool under Start | Programs | Accessories.

In OE you could prtscr onto the clipboard, then paste it into word or paint
and then copy that image into an email. This doesn't appear to work with
Mail. Am I missing something? In other words, how do I get prtscr contents
from the clipboard into an email with Mail?

You can still press the print screen key to capture the desktop,
then in Paint press Ctrl+V to see it.

Hi Dave,

Just so we are all on the same page -- in Outlook Express one could paste an
image into an email. So not having that capability in Windows Mail can be
viewed as a lost capability?

Agreed?

No you couldn't. You had to save it as an image or DOC file first. I just
tried it in OE on WinXP SP2.

Sorry, I mis-spoke. In OE you could (1) hit prtscr, (2) paste to word or
paint (3) copy from word or paint and (4) paste into the body of the email.
In Mail, you can not do step 4. The only opion is to attach the image. Do you
concur?

I don't have OE anymore, but I concur that pasting an image doesn't
work in WM, although you can do: Insert, Picture.
Interestingly, pasting an image does work in WLM if the message format
is HTML.

I just tried this in OE6 on my XP computer.

PrtScr copies the screen to the clipboard. But I can't paste into a new
email message.

If you could paste into OE (I couldn't), then you would not have to do steps
2 & 3.
The reason you do step 2 is to save the clipboard contents to a file, which
you can then attach or insert.

As far as I can see, WM works the same way OE does. You can attach a file,
or insert it into a HTML email.
But no paste.

Maybe someone who used OE a lot will have more input....

No!
You can't paste an image into OE from the clipboard. It has to be saved as
a file first and then you attach or insert the file. Just like WinMail.
