Suddenly, I am unable to power off instantly with the keyboard power button.

Does anyone know why/how this happened??

How do I fix it??

FYI:
Power Options Properties Advanced now no longer has the option

"When I Press the Sleep Button on my Computer"

Yet, when I press sleep it instantly goes to suspend.

Why would you want to power off instantly? If you did you wouldn't shut
things down first and that could cause problems. If you want power off
immediately push the little power button on the front of your computer...
or, if you have a surge protector, turn the power off there. That will shut
you down immediately. If that doesn't work, pull your computer's power
plug out.

But have you opened Control Panel.... Power Options... Advanced... and see
what you have set up for your keyboard
sleep button? Perhaps that has changed somehow. Mine is set to "Shut Down"
so all I do is hit the sleep button and it shuts down. But... not
instantly. It shuts things down in about a minute and then powers off.

HEY! Play nice!

What I mean with power off "instantly" is NOT to get a window with the
choices: "Stand By" "Turn Off" "Restart" ... (jeez what a grouch)

And YES, I've checked the Control Panel... Power Options... Advanced... (my
original message implied this)

The "Power button" choice is set to shut down and the "sleep button" choice
does not appear, yet the sleep button does put the computer on standby
immediately without an intermediate step.

Yet while consuming time browsing this newsgroup (instead of solving the
world's problems) you read it and took the time to give an obvious, but
inane response...

.... the trivial trivializing the trivial - that's a philosopher for you...

Thanks, Plato ... go read Socrates

If you think that was "grouchy" then just keep top posting you ****ing twit.
Maybe your comp just isn't tired.
