For some odd reason, I cannot get my keyboard or mouse to work in my new
XPe image.

I have used this hardware before, but had to create a new image for it. I
have i8042.sys and mousclass.sys on the build and have the standard keyboard
and mouse components.

I have tried a USB mouse and keyboard and a PS/2 mouse and keyboard.
Neither will work.

If I run the system with XP Pro, the devices function as expected.

Any ideas?

Sean.

How are you starting to build your image? Did you re-use your old PMQ or
did you generate a new one? If an old one, it might be interesting to boot
into XP Pro (or WinPE if XP Pro is too difficult to install on that machine)
and TAP to generate a new PMQ. Compare that to the old one and see if there
are any differences.

I have compared the old PMQ file and even imported the old PMQ file into
this build, but I still cannot get it to go.

I cannot figure out what the heck I am missing on this.....

Try adding "Class Installers / Hardware Compatibility" to your build and see
if it helps.

Probably a silly question, but do you have the keyboard and mouse
attached when it's going through FBA and when it's booting? I've had
some problems with using a keyboard/mouse/monitor switch on some
hardware where if i'm looking at the *other* machine, the stuff doesn't
work properly.

I thought it was that too. I have a KVM on it, but i have detached it and
it still gives the same thing.

I added the Class Installer / Hardware Compatibility and it still does not
work.

I did notice that it is "failing" as soon as FBA starts. I can use the KVM
until FBA first starts and then it quits working.

Most odd. Can you put an old image back on to see if it still fails?

Hi,

Have you got these lines in c:\Windows\fba\fba.log ?

[FBAInstallPnpClassInstallers] Class Files Present: keyboard.inf
[FBAInstallPnpClassInstallers] Class Files Present: msmouse.inf

Also, check for warnings or errors in this file.

Yes I do see both lines in the log file.

There are a couple of errors for the USB Host controller not loading, but
nothing with the mouse or keyboard.

Well,
I used the Winlogon sample macro and it seems to work now. It has to be
something with the .pmq file and the devices that it is importing.
