Why are my keyboard entries getting mangled? Every so often the system suddenly starts mangling.
I've tried three keyboards : Wireless, USB and PS2. All return the same results. This is the first
time I've ever encounrtered the problem and am at a loss to explain it. I'm using XP Pro SP3 and an
Intel 2.4Mhz P4, Award BIOS (14-Feb-2003) system with 1Gig RAM.

Thanks

Why would you be wringing water out of your keyboards? You shouldn't be
getting them wet in the first place. A mangle will probably break some keys
in the process.

EH?? Two of the keyboards (PS2 and USB) brand new, straight out of the box. No wet stuff around at
all :-)

If you were willing to share with us _exactly_ what is happening rather
than using the vague term "mangling"

--------------------
MANGLE:
1 : to injure with deep disfiguring wounds by cutting, tearing, or crushing
<people…mangled by sharks — V. G. Heiser>
2 : to spoil, injure, or make incoherent especially through ineptitude <a
story mangled beyond recognition>
--------------------

you might have a chance of obtaining some sort answer. Is it number 1? If
so, what is being cut turn or crushed? If it is number 2, which seems more
likely, what form of spoilage, injury or incoherency is involved? Press a
"Z" and a "U" comes out? Type "VW" and "farfegnugen" comes out? You've
gotta give some sort of clues.

If I were reading the tealeaves I might venture a guess that some
foreign-language keyboard layout has been selected but that isn't the sort
of thing that comes and goes on its own. Or perhaps a keyboard macro
program is installed and forgotten and whenever a given key sequence is
struck it emits whatever it has been programed to emit. Without knowing the
symptoms it is all guesswork.

Probably not the keyboards then. Try memtests, virus scans and getting
rid of temporary internet and junk files.

Somewhere on teh intarweb "kony" typed:
... since he's typing this on the keyboard, we have no hope
of ever knowing.

C'mon guys, he's Australian, give him a break. <g>
