Keyboard latency in google with firefox

Greets all:

I can’t correlate this with any recent changes. There is annoying
keyboard and scrollbar latency when I am in google, most noticeably
when I type into the search box. I can see from my firewall icon that
it is only when firefox is accessing the internet (Comcast cable
modem). I’ve turned off search suggestions in google….no improvement.
What I’d really like to do is have my keyboard be the absolute highest
user interrupt priority (shouldn’t that be the default?). It does not
happen in other programs….MS Office etc.

Using XP pro with latest SP’s, 4 G memory, 3 GHz Pentium IV, 640 GB
hard drive space over 2 drives, McAfee SecurityCenter.

I have Comcast too.

They quit using McAfee and switched to Norton BTW... I wonder why.

My personal experience after getting Comcast and McAfee and
configuring their "recommended" setup was really unpleasant. I
determined that McAfee was the culprit by disabling it, testing (it
was great without McAfee), then I just uninstalled McAfee completely
and am glad to be rid of it. I will say that I think I have given
McAfee and Norton both a good try though. They are just not right for
me and I will never use them again.

Check out the user forums for Comcast for help and see what other
people that actually use Comcast have to say about it and McAfee -
that is where the folks with Comcast experience hang out:

I also did benchmark tests with McAfee and without McAfee (and Norton,
and many others) and the results are quite remarkable in favor of
using neither McAfee or Norton - for my environment. I think it
unlikely you have a problem with XP or your keyboard user interrupt
priority. I do know for certain that my general Internet and overall
system performance issues disappeared when I uninstalled McAfee. It
was easy to point the finger at McAfee using various performance
measurement tools.

If your Internet habits are such that you need the protection of those
products, you will need to adjust your system performance expectations
(in the negative direction) or switch to something else.
