My keyboard works on other computers and in the BIOS of this one, but once
the system boots into Win2k, the keyboard doesn't work. If I unplug it and
replug it back in, the NUMLOCK light doesn't even light up. Advice?

Try another keyboard. Preferably via a PS/2 keyboard connection. You may
need to install drivers for a USB keyboard in W2000.

I've tried 3 different keyboards to no avail. They are all PS/2. I do not
have a USB keyboard and have not been able to locate a PS/2-USB adapter to ty
that out. I've even tried copying the keyboard.dll etc. from
windows/system32 from another computer but that didn't work either. What
could possibly allow a keyboard to work in the BIOS but not Win2k?

Changing the key mappings? A virus?

Would it be a problem to copy your files off it onto a computer with
up-to-date anti-virus software as a prelude to a repair-install of W2000?

A quick look through some of the articles found through
http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=w2k+keyboard+not+work&btnG=Google+Search

doesn't make the outlook promising.
