Hi all. At one time I'm sure I figured this out but for the life of me I can't find a way now

I'm using XP Home and I recently reinstalled and need to reset all my personal setting. I want my "connect" button to take me to my homepage via IE but it keeps using AOL as the browser then AOL connects to the Netscape page. I only use IE to browse. Same situation with the e-mail button. AOL opens, signs on, then check my AOL mail which I don't read

I've been in the control panel in the keyboard option, found where to make settings as to addresses, but can't seem to get it to use IE.

IE is my default browser and outlook is the default e-mail

Any help

thanks DOn

Hi Donald,

Did you install the drivers for your keyboard that were supplied by the
manufacturer ? Most of the hotkey buttons and so forth have a special
program to assign shortcuts. After installing the drivers, there should be a
tab in the keyborad properties under control panel >> Printers and other
hardware where you can customize the hotkey settings.

If AOL is your only ISP, then that is the way the software is designed to
work. It must run to establish the connection. Once the connection is made,
you can use any browser that you want. (I've seen hints in discussion
groups that AOL9 is a little more pliable but don't use it so can't confirm
or expand on that.)

If you have another ISP and use BYOA for AOL, check that AOL hasn't stolen
the default connection status: Internet Options> Connect.

hey, cannot u replace AOL version of IE for normal IE? Dunno really how
it's done, but i'm almost positive you can change it...look in Google
groups. You could also look for IE explorer settings in the
registry..and examine the ones for AOL....ahould be somewhere in
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE... \MICROSOFT\IE SETUP...

The AOL browser runs only within the AOL software. You might be referring
IE that has been branded with "from AOL" in the title bar. That is still
just Internet Explorer (with an edited title bar) and you're still stuck
with the problem of making the initial connection to get online.
