Keyboard going crazy

Hi,

I have a compaq laptop with Win XP Home (distribution
ver). Once in a while my keyboard goes crazy and starts
typing in numerics & special characters when I press
alphabets. Some time nothing is displayed while I am
typing. I ususally try different options like toggling
capslock and pressing function keys but nothing works.

I have to restart the computer to fix this. Sometime even
after restart when I have to type my password nothing
displays and if have to restart the computer again. My
Win XP is fully updated...I am not sure where the bug is.

Any clue guys...?

If this just started, update and run your antivirus program. This sure
looks like one a prankster would send out--no real harm but aggravating as
heck.
