"Won't work" how? If the Enter key is not responding, then some of the
third party add on toolbars for IE have been noted to cause this. If you
any of these, may want to try uninstalling them to see if that helps.

Sharon,

No key will work. It will not allow me to type in a search
in google, it will not allow me to type in an Inernet
address, I can't type in my password for my e-mail
address, nothing. If I want to do anything I have to go
into Word and type in what I want and cut and paste it to
the windo. The frustrating thing is that it doesn't
happen all the time, just most of the time, but it ONLY
happens in IE. I am set up as the administrator so I can't
see that there would be any restrictions for me as a
user. Any suggestions?

Answers, no. Suggestions, yes:

--Check the system for spyware. A quick checkup can be done here:
http://www.aumha.org/a/noads.htm
There are links on that page leading to doxdesk.com, a site well-known for
accurately documenting various parasites. Another good resource site for
info on parasites: http://www.mvps.org/inetexplorer/

--Check for viruses with an antivirus program that has the current virus
definitions. Or try one of the online scanners such as:
http://www.pandasoftware.com/activescan/
http://housecall.trendmicro.com/
http://www.avp.ru/remoteviruschk.html
http://www3.ca.com/virusinfo/virusscan.aspx

--Clear temporary internet files (browser cache)
