Hi,

I am having a problem with the hibernation feature in WinXp Pro. When I
return to my computer after a hibernation, it no longer recognizes my
keyboard. I am forced to restart the machine to get it back. I should
mention that during bootup, I can get the computer to recongnize the
keyboard (IE, it will allow me to enter the bios and even use F8 to bypass
the startup files), but after it completes the bootup out of hibernation, it
no longer recognizes the keyboard. This never happens if I restart the
machine instead of hibernate. Any ideas how to troubleshoot this problem?

goto device manager, keyboard, properties, under power
management, make sure "allow this device to bring this
computer out of standby" is ticked and allow computer to
turn off device is not ticked.

Also, goto universal serial bus controller, then double
click each bus ending in hub and make sure they are not
ticked for "allow computer to turn off power"
(under "power management" tab.

Hope this helps you.

I have the hibernate problem where the keyboard supposedly
does not support hibernate yet it has the sleep button on
the keyboard (microsoft office keyboard).

I was not able to find a power management option under the keyboard listing
in device manager. In fact the only listing that had such an option is the
"USB Root Hub". My keyboard, however, is a ps2 plugged into a ps2 socket.
Any other suggestions?

You may want to see if your motherboard manufacturer has a bios update.
Issues of the nature that you describe can be fixed in updated bios
revisions.
