Hi All,

The System: Windows XP Professional 2002 Service pack 2, Pentium 4 3.06 Ghz
with 512 Meg RAM. The audio device is on the motherboard it is a C-Media
AC97.

The problem: While either audio or video is playing I get a click and
constant interference when using the keyboard, with video I'm not bothered,
I don't want to type while watching a film, but I do like to listen to
music while working, typing in Word or sending emails etc. This keyboard
interference makes the music unlistenable. I'm usually playing mp3s. The
problem occurs no matter which audio player I use be it WinAmp or Windows
Media Player. When using the mouse there is no interference at all, only
with the keyboard. I have had some fairly old and decrpid PCs in my time
but never had this problem.

What have I tried: Everything I can think of, updating the keyboard driver,
updating audio driver, changing audio priority in WinAmp. I have tried
plugging different keyboards into this machine but no joy. I have also
tried plugging a PCI sound card in but get exactly the same problem. I have
also tried changing the Hardware acceleration and so on but get no change.

Any advise or suggestions would be most welcome.

More details on your PC hardware would be useful.

Is your keyboard wired or wireless? Is the keyboard a round connector
(PS/2) or a flat square like connector (USB?)

Most interference can usually be traced to a low-quality power
supply. Power supplies have various components that generate "noise"
that can be captured by the sound card, analog sound cable(s) or
across the motherboard "bus" controllers.

It's a PS2 wired keyboard. I've tried more than one keyboard and get the
same problem.
