For about 3 weeks, Vista Beta 2 worked fine (in a beta way).
After that, (one instance of) svchost.exe began to explode a few minutes
after login, eating up all of my RAM % CPU.
It seemed to have s.th. to do with automatic update.

I did not find a solution, so I decided to do a fresh install of Vista
Beta 2, but surprisingly the setup won't accept my (valid) key. Sad,
because I really want to test Vista a little more.

More surprisingly my key works, when I try to install Vista inside MS
Virtual PC 2004 (disabled network, don't know if that helped).

There's more in vista than TRUE and FALSE.

Either a product key is valid or not. But not in Vista, you only have to
be obtrusive enough:

I did't chnage the key, just hit "next" a few times ;)

Maybe contact your MSDN help desk for key replacement. Apparently you are
part of the MSDN Vista Beta channel.
