Key Number Validation

On my advice, a friend of mine tried to install
Antispyware. However, she was told she couldn't because
the Key Number was blocked. Does this mean her Windows
package is already registered? She recently got a new hard
drive with XP pre installed. Would I be right in guessing
this has something to do with it?

Tell her to run Windowsupdate and see if the
"Genuine validation tool" installs.

update.microsoft.com

Call MS if it fails.
 
Hi Alex,
There have been glitches with that from time to time, particularly in OEM
instances.
Have her run thru the validation process again, and choose to type in the
code, careful with the distinction between letters and numbers, and if it
fails, contact MS Product Support for a workaround.
