My new version of XP will not accept the key code that was provided on the
box. I have checked and rechacked the spelling and it continues to show
ERROR "The CD Key you entered is not valoid". This is a new procduct
purchased at a national office supply chain. Need more ideas!!!!!

Need more ideas!!!!!

1) Have someone else read it off to you and you write it down on a sheet of
paper.
(8 & B, 5 & S, I & 1, etc - can all look right even a half-dozen times
to an individual.. But you bring someone else in and they might see the
bunny in the cloud where you saw a cotton ball..)

2) Take it back. You said you bought it at a "national office supply
chain" - they likely have a return policy of some sort. Exchange it for
another.

I had my wife read it back to me and verify it also. The more I look at
something the more it looks the same (They may have meds for that)!!!!
Thnaks,

Randy

The key code is "never" provided ON THE BOX. The key code is inside the box
affixed to the folding envelope that holds the CD.

You need to examine the Product Key very carefully. It's awfully
easy to mistake a "B" for an "8," a "G" for a "6," an "S" for a "5," or
a "Q" for a "0" or "O." Fortunately, Microsoft had the good sense to
leave the "1's," "I's," "O's," and "0's" out of the equation. Also, be
sure that your <CapsLock> is _off_ while entering the Product Key --
this isn't supposed to make a difference, but I've seen it do so, on
rare occasions.

Did you get it resolved? If so, what did you do. I got the same message on
my new computer.
