On the advice of several posters I found a copy of the last freeware
edition 2.1.5 and it is everything they said it was. Very happy to
have it to replace ZA. Smaller and just as good. So thanks to acf.

I used kerio 2.15 for years, until I got a new cable modem, then it
stopped working, so I switched to zone alarm, a slow-starting firewall.

I realized later that I could have continued using KPF 2.15 if I had
only erased all the rules and started over from a fresh start, there
was a rule there that stopped the new type of cable modem from
working.

That's a tip of what you can do if problems occur.

If you upgrade to win2000 in the future you can use a newer version of
Kerio, it is also free for private use.

So I agree with you, Kerio is the best.

I've used this gem since Win98. I'm using XP Pro now, with Kerio 2.1.5
and the Windows firewall. There was a weakness in fragmented packets
in Kerio and these two play very nice together. It's normally
recommended NOT to use two firewalls, but these two are an exception.

I've been clean for quite some time using these.

I *paid* for Sygate and went back to Kerio 2.1.5! It's great, and you're
right, it gets along very well with the Windows firewall.

Sygate is free and has a fantastic port logger / traffic logger.
I couldn't find any alternative anywhere. Anyone?

I found Sygate very easy to use.
The only downer was that I read that it may have certain security holes
and there hasn't been any effort to clear them up.

Why did you leave Sygate for Kerio?

I don't want to talk about zone alarm, it makes me upset!

I also use Kerio Personal Firewall 2.1.5 & Windows Firewall at the same
time. I've been using Kerio for the past several years & I love it. I
used to use Zonealarm until I was unable to install the newer versions
so I went with Kerio & I have never looked back.

I've tried several times to download this program, but all I get is very
little of it, 224kb vs. the 2018kb reported on that page. Anyone know
what might be happening? I'm sure several of you have had this program
for a long time and don't have a reason to download it. Is there another
site in which to download this? Thanks.

this was a tricky one

you google kerio free

and lots of pages say that sunbelt offer the free kerio.
and there's a sunbelt link
I guess you may have got that far, and thought you only could download
a trial. But you missed this text.
http://www.sunbelt-software.com/Kerio.cfm
"If you're looking for the free Kerio Firewall or a replacement for the
Sygate firewall, you have found the right page. Just like the original,
the Sunbelt Kerio Personal Firewall will keep working after the first
30 days, but in basic mode. "

So that's the download page.
well actually, this is
http://www.sunbelt-software.com/Kerio-Download.cfm

I haven't tried it, so can't confirm. I just use the win xp firewall.

Yeah, me too, but have always wanted to have another running that used
very little memory. Besides, the download you pointed me too isn't the
version I was looking for, but thanks anyway.

Does anyone know of an alternate download site for Kerio 2.1.5? Thanks.
