Have 'em check them selves automatically.
Check 'em yourself manually.
Check the Winplanet site - they show recent updates for a variety of
softwares:

Don't those updates have to be done under admin rights?

I know of SMS. Never had to use or admin it. There are
microsoft.public.sms.* groups for it. They could address if SMS can be
used to push non-Microsoft software.
