Keeping folder views

When I reset the folder views of two of my folders to
icons, the computer holds this view for maybe a half
hour, then reverts to the details view. I want some of
my folders in the details view, but not all. I do have
the "remember each folder's view setting" checked.

Reset and increase the folder layout cache: Delete the Registry keys
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Shell\Bags and
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Shell\BagMRU, both with
all the subentries, then create new keys "BagMRU" and "Bags" here. At
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\ShellNoRoam create a new
DWORD entry
BagMRU Size
and set this to
5000 (decimal)
Restart the computer.
