What is the best way to keep employees from using my
computer while I'm away? (Windows XP)

Thanks
Dwayne

Hi

If your BIOS supports a startup password, enable it...

Suggest that they will be fired if they use your computer while you're
away? Can't you control your employees?

get windows xp pro edition so you can password protect
each person or only allow yourself

Dunno why people have given such complex answers. You don't need xp pro to keep people off your computer. If Your the adminstrator just set up user passwords and delete the guest function and no-one can use it. Surely your company should provide password accessed intranet? In which case just log out when you leave your computer

What?
Windows XP Home has that feature also.
In fact it is the same code for both so in that respect both Home and
Pro are exactly as secure.

Dwayne;
How much unrestricted access do they have to the computer?
If they have physical access nothing short of EFS can keep them out.

However if they do not really have access, NTFS Permissions and
passwording the profiles is usually sufficient:

Otherwise securing the computer under lock and key may be necessary.

Greetings --

Don't create any user accounts on it for them to use, and keep
strong passwords on both the built-in Administrator account and your
user account.

Greetings --

Simply fire the next one to use the computer without your
permission; the rest will get the idea.
