Keep original date when writing to CD

I'm making a bunch of backups onto CD within Windows XP (no other software
available). Is there a way to retain the last write date of the file ...
not the date that I write them all to CD. I just created a CD of files
created over the last year and now they all show up with today's date. This
isn't what I wanted.

Any thoughts. Thanks.

Hi,

Not with the WinXP native burning program, you'd have to use a third party
program.

And not even all of those. For instance, it's not possible with Power
DVD.

Seems pretty stupid, not to offer this option.

Would zipping the files and then writing the .zip to CD preserve the
individual file date stamps.
