Whenever I am in a site using IE6 (I have all the updates automatically done)
and go to click on the next page or after a search go to click on a site, I
see the page come up for about a second and then it goes to AIMCHANNEl in the
address area and "page not found" comes up and i can't get back on. I click
back and then refresh and see the page I want for another second and then it
goes back to "page not found" with the AIM aol logo on that page. I do not
have aol. What can I do?I doesn't always happen, but it does happen at least
twice a day.

Do you have AIM (AOL Instant Messenger) Installed?
Before answering "No", check in Control Panel | Add/Remove Programs.

I uninstalled AIM, getting page not found and some places with red "x" now
but now the page not found is a one of those generic ones on parts of a page
of info. It is the one that says, page not found, refresh or change browser
settings? How do you do that and why? And why am I getting those red x's
now?

BELOW IS THE MESSAGE I GET ON PART OF THE PAGES I SEARCH WITH RED X'S NOW
DOESN'T HAVE THE AIM MESSAGE, JUST GENERIC BELOW

The page cannot be displayed
The page you are looking for is currently unavailable. The Web site might be
experiencing technical difficulties, or you may need to adjust your browser
settings.

Please try the following:

Click the Refresh button, or try again later.

If you typed the page address in the Address bar, make sure that it is
spelled correctly.

To check your connection settings, click the Tools menu, and then click
Internet Options. On the Connections tab, click Settings. The settings should
match those provided by your local area network (LAN) administrator or
Internet service provider (ISP).
See if your Internet connection settings are being detected. You can set
Microsoft Windows to examine your network and automatically discover network
connection settings (if your network administrator has enabled this setting).
Click the Tools menu, and then click Internet Options.
On the Connections tab, click LAN Settings.
Select Automatically detect settings, and then click OK.
Some sites require 128-bit connection security. Click the Help menu and then
click About Internet Explorer to determine what strength security you have
installed.
If you are trying to reach a secure site, make sure your Security settings
can support it. Click the Tools menu, and then click Internet Options. On the
Advanced tab, scroll to the Security section and check settings for SSL 2.0,
SSL 3.0, TLS 1.0, PCT 1.0.
Click the Back button to try another link.

I don't know. I just thought that since AIMCHANNEL was appearing in the
address bar the problem was caused by AIM.

Post a link to a publicly accessible page where you see the symptom.
I suspect you may see clues in the source that the page is doing
a redirect.

Also a common cause of Red-X and not-found are either a bad DNS
or an incorrect override in your HOSTS file; so you can check out your
symptom from those perspectives independently of IE using tools in
a cmd window such as ping -n 1 nslookup and telnet 80.
Again, post some specific details if you need help with such a diagnostic
tack.

Good luck
