Keep getting blank page with IE6

Can any one help, i on window xp home edition with ie6,
lately i found that when i connect ie6 browser to the
internet via dial up modem i get blank page even thou the
modem had connected o.k. It was only by chance that i
find out in task manager that SVCHOST.exe,NETWORK
SERVICE was holding up all the cpu( keeping cpu to 100%)
and only way to let ie6 back was to end the process.
I'm sure this SVCHOST.EXE for NETWORK SERVICE is suppose
to be on for a purpose. Can anyone help me fix this
problem.
