Keep Desktop Icon-free

I'm trying to prevent users from putting icons on the desktop. I've set
Group Policy to block most things, but I'm still able to right-click on a
Quick Launch icon and drag IT onto the desktop.

Desktop re-direction hasn't worked for me unless I've done it incorrectly. I
created a share named Desktop$, told it to move anything on the desktop to
the location. I thought it was supposed to create a user folder\desktop
folder under my share.

I've seen nothing and I can still drag thing from Quick Launch. I'd prefer
to avoid a mandatory profile so I can at least let people use their own
wallpaper. I don't need to become the wallpaper ogre.

Any suggestions here would be welcome.

You can change permissions for the desktop folder in the user profile under
documents and settings so that the user has only read/list/execute
permissions and you may also want to make sure they are not the owner of
that folder so that they can not change permissions. If you have a large
amount of users that you need to do this for you can use a Group Policy
logon script and using the cacls command and the username variable in the
path. --- Steve
