Does anyone know how to reply to a message that has an
attachment, and retain the attachment in the reply?

I do not want to have to forward.

Someone asked this question in 2002 and there never was an answer. Surely
there is setting for this somewhere.

BG, one approach is to:
1) have open both the original msg and the reply.
2) drag the attachment from the original msg to the reply.
3) send reply.

You'll need to forward the message or insert it. Outlook doesn't include the
original since the sender has it already. if you edited the message, you'll
need to attach the edited copy.

Thanks for the suggestion. From what I can tell, there is not a setting to
change how this works. I will pass along your idea to my end-users.
