Or that's the way I see it.
Machine is only 3 days old, but wouldn't you know it, M$ would stick something on this machine to kill it.
2 reboots, and kbd.exe now fails both times. here's what I have found

Now doesn't that just instill confidence ?
What does that mean ? how do I get kbd.exe to work again ?
Guess I should be happy that all it did kill was [some of] the special function keys.

works : volume , half moon sleep.
fails : DVD eject , search, HP club, Internet, info, email, burn DVD, all media controls.

real keyboard actually works. Using it now.
I haven't even had this thing long enough to try the media controls otherthan the eject keys. I can see them saving lots of wear and tear on the mechanical eject button.

disregard. It's not a HP problem as Vista reports.
The default settings loaded no email, Internet loaded AOL. 2 days ago I changed it to load agent for email, and my home page.
It worked with those settings for 2 days.
I went back in yesterday to see if the 'complex remote page with label' could be switched to 'simple local page with label' and still work.
It did, or so it would seem it did. It worked all day yesterday.
Today's reboot cleared out all the definitions.
It has a restore defaults setting. which may or may not be good, cause itdidn't restore defaults. It restored the settings I defined 2 days ago replacing home page and email program.

Not a solution or even a suggestion when it pops up the look for fixes popup.
And now I can't find that look for fixes popup to explain the fix.
Whether it's a HP or Vista program I can't say.
it's a HP Keyboard with a Vista OS.
But opening keyboard in the control panel and resetting defaults fixes the problem after a reboot.
Or that's the way I see it.

I also have a HP multimedia keyboard and Kdb.exe has crash on me several
times and i think some features do not work. What version are you using? I'm
using 1.0.2.6 right now.

have you contact hp support about this problem, it's better to contact them
so their aware that Kbd.exe need to be updated to fix several issues,
compatbility with vista.

1.0.2.2
It's probably not the same for every machine.
