Thanks a lot for the help, I managed to get it up and running
This is what I did:
1.) I went to the windows\system32 folder and found the file
xpsp3res.dll file and added a .bak at the end of it.
2.) Went to Control Panel, Add\Remove programs and clicked on "Show Updates"
3.) Since the update failed to intall in the first place, it wasn't listed
here, so I just carried on...
4.) I restarted the computer
5.) Went to Contol Panel and ran "Windows Update"
6.) KB914440 showed up
7.) I selected and installed it - This time it worked for me.
8.) Restarted the computer again
9.) xpsp3res.dll file was automatically replaced by a newer version by the
install.
10.) Deleted the xpsp3res.dll.bak file manually from the system32 folder
11.) Presto!
