Hi,

Installed MS06-021/KB916281 after some users reported audio on sites
does not work "properly" any more. Btw that JScript suggested
workaround thing indeed is a horrible hack, probably breaks even
more than it fixes.

After installing updates to repro the "Click to activate this
control" problem I got the same issue.

Now oddly enough, the MS06-021/KB916281 installed fine, but the fix
for that fix i.e. KB912945 does not install at all on exactly the
same PC (XP Pro SP2 Tablet Edition). I'm getting "The version of IE
you have installed does not match the update you are trying to install."

This is definitely MS SNAFU.

Any ideas how to fix this unworking fix for the fix? (apart from
telling users to dump IE and use Opera, FF, ...)

Any tips would be much appreciated...

many thanks,
- Jan

This was answered in another newsgroup.

If you must post identical messages in more than one newsgroup please
crosspost, i.e. please place all of the newsgroups in the Newsgroup field of
one message, separated by commas. That way when someone reads the message
in one newsgroup it will be marked as read in all of them. In addition, an
answer posted in one newsgroup will generally show up in all of them.

This is usually not necessary since most of those who answer posts read
more than one newsgroup.

Not surprising really - since it seems that MS have yet to release a patch
for Tablet Edition!

Please read on how to post messages to NG's

See my reply to the thread here w/subject "RoadRunner Flash Home Page Blue
Screen". The "compatibility patch" is dead.

Sorry about that. Posted that way, as I came up / found the other ng's
later and while doing further tests. Otherwise would've crossposted...

Thanks for the answers, all. Will have to tell users to go to Firefox
and Opera now.
