Hello,

Installed the KB835732 patch on my Windows 2000 Pro (SP4) computer.
The computer was fully patched then I discovered 5 new updates on
Windows Update. Downloaded and installed them. Upon reboot, I noticed
the computer took longer than usual to shut down. When it finally did
everything was fine until I got to the Win login prompt. Before it
appeared I got a BSOD, "DRIVER_IRQ_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL" and information
that a memory dump file has been created) Rebooted and everything has
worked perfectly. But I must say it was pretty annoying. I have not
encountered the system process (PID 8) taking 100% CPU as others have,
and I have not had any other problems with the patch except for the
single BSOD.

Here's some more information from the dump file that was created.
Everyhing points to IdeChnDr.sys, a part of the Intel Application
Accelerator. First I ran Memtest86 to see if it was my RAM. All tests
passed. Then I ran SeaTools (a diagnostic tool for Seagate hard
drives). It took 5 hours but It didn't find any bad sectors. Finally I
ran the Prime95 torture test for several hours. It was not my
PSU/Motherboard/CPU. This machine has been perfectly stable for 15
months without a single BSOD, so the problem is deffenitely the
KB835732 patch. I will eventually see if I can recreate this problem
by uninstalling and installing the patch again.

I have attached a couple of files. First of all, the memory dump file,
Also, data from dumpchk and the pstat utility. Finally output from the
WinDbg utility. Two events was logged in the Event Log but as they are
in Swedish I wont post them in full.
Entry 1 was an event id 1000 from Userenv. Apperantly my registry file
couldn't be deleted from memory (why windows took so long to shut
down).
Entry 2 was an event ID 1001 from "Save Dump". More info about the
parameters in the attached dumpchkresult.txt file.

Hope MS can solve this problem.

Best regards
Bjorn Edstrom
