I had a similar problem with a different KB... patch. Eventually, I got
to a competent tech in Dallas after being flipped through 4 incompetent
intermediates, mostly in India. I'm not positive but I think the number
I dialed was (800)426-9400 and pick tech support.....
I was trying to get the latest DAO update installed. It would choke and
try again the next day. The problem was the updater expected something
like version 4 so it could update to version 5.2. But I only had
version 2.5. Nobody could explain why that had not been updated along
the way or why the installation program didn't leave a note in a log
file saying what the problem was. The tech had me install a fairly
current version and the let Microsoft Update do the rest.
I can't imagine what business sense this outsourcing makes. They paid
for all the hours of the foreign engineers that couldn't help, the phone
calls, etc.
