I never repeat myself, myself, myself...

What's up, Microsoft? Why doesn't this update stick on some W2K machines?

GEA

The patch is for MDAC 2.52, 2.53, 2.62, 2.70, 2.71 or 2.80 so if you want to
upgrade to one of those versions that should fix the problem for you.
Updating to 2.8 is recommended.
Otherwise you will have to set WU to ignore the update until the fix is
published.

I am having the same issue, but only on my Excahnge 2000
server. I have installed MDAC 2.8, but still get the patch
offered from WU. Do I just sit and wait for a fix?

The fix has been published and should have stopped this happening... Would
you be able to give me some info on the system, please?

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\DataAccess, FullInstallVer = ?
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Updates\DataAccess\Q832483,
ProductVersion = ?
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Nls\MUILanguages, which
Language code(s) = 1?
Version of sqlsrv32.dll in system folder

Thanks!

I, too, am having the same problem except that the
OS is WinNT 4.0 SP6a. Please note that MDAC 2.8
has already been installed.

Here are the answers to your questions:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\DataAccess,
FullInstallVer = ?

2.80.1022.3

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Updates\DataAccess\Q832483,
ProductVersion = ?

2.80.1022.3

KEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Nls\MUILanguages,
Which Language code(s) = 1?

(no MUILanguages)

Just: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Nls\Language

Version of sqlsrv32.dll in system folder?

Product Version: 3.85.1025
File Version: 2000.085.1025.00 built by: (_sqlbld)

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance,

Errol
