KB828750 patch corrupted my system

I applied the cumulative patch for IE 6 (KB828750), and
it really messed up my system.
After the patch was applied, I could no use the CD drive
AND be on the internet at the same time. If I was online,
I would be bumped off with 30 seconds of using the cd
drive. If I was using the drive and tried to connect, I
couldn't.
Unfortunately, there is NO UNINSTALL for the patch. I had
to apply a Ghost backup to get my system back.

Worst thing is, there is NO PLACE togo to tell Microsoft
the problem. This newsgroup is the closest thing.

Has anyone else experienced this problem?

Did you follow the caveat about quitting all running applications including
AV and Firewall programs?
 
does that include the XP firewall?

if I keep up with updates and this one is not on my list
do i still need it? i do updates weekly.
