Will it help? Yes, it will enhance the security of your PC.
Will it hurt? No, it will not hurt to install it.
Never fear downloading and installing Microsoft updates. To date there has
only been one (Windows XP) that caused computer slowdowns and was corrected in
a reasonable amount of time. Keep your computer updated and you will have no
need for the items that cause computer problems such as virus scanners.
If you keep your system updated, the firewall turned on and NEVER OPEN an
attachment sent by someone unknown to you you don't need any of the antivirus
programs. I haven't had a virus in 10 years and have never used Norton or any
similar program.
