I had Office 2000 Small Business and upgraded to SR-1. My wife brought
home Office 2000 Premium from her school system with Power Point and
Photo Draw. I uninstalled my old version of Office, and installed the
Premium Edition, although I kept the old version of Publisher which
was the same as the new version.

Power Point will not start from the Program Menu. The dialog box
flashes on screen and then the hard drive grinds for about twenty
minutes but nothing happens. Long after I've given up, Power Point
does load. I did find the KB 236589 article about disabling the
Startup Box but that did nothing. I haven't gotten around to deleting
the Recent File Entry because it's late and I don't want to hose the
registry.

Meanwhile every other Office program works fine--Word, Excel, Front
Page, Publisher, and Photodraw, The only thing that fails to work is
Power Point. Does deleting the Recent File Entry really do the trick?

Any other ideas on why PP 2000 is acting this way and what I can do
about it? Windows XP Professional; Office installation on second hard
drive, not C: (because of space); normal other programs.

Thanks for any help or guidance.
