I'm trying this fix from the KB article on our Win2003 DNS server from
cmd.exe and it just doesn't work:

dnscmd /Config /EnableEDnsProbes 0

anybody know the proper syntax to get this fix to work ?

thanks,

Did you install the server support tools from the CD?

hi kevin,

I installed the Server 2003 Support tools as you recommended and the
command worked fine.

Thanks for the tip. I wish it would have said to do that in the MS
Knowledge Base article.

Did this help your resolution problem? WIth your previous post and
description, it didn't *appear* to be an EDNS0 issue.

The EDNS0 issue was a separate issue from the slow response time.

When I switched to using only our Win2003 DNS servers for external
resolution, the response time
was fine but we could not resolve certain sites such as
http://mail.yahoo.com.

I learned that this was the EDNS0 issue because of our PIX firewall and
implemented the KB 828731 fix.

Everything's working great now =)
