I've downloaded the "fix" of KB 935448 for this and still am getting the
illegal system DLL relocation message. I'm having trouble with programs
other than the Realtek one as well. If I delete the patch and the hotfix
will it cause other problems? Do I need the Realtek driver since I don't use
it, or does it drive other players too? I'm willing to delete anything that
fixes this problem and Microsoft should be ashamed that they are causing all
of us so much trouble!

The vulnerability that is mitigated by KB925902 is being *ACTIVELY
EXPLOITED*.

Is KB935448 installed ? If so, uninstall it from Add/Remove Programs in
the Control Panel, then uninstall KB925902.
Restart the system, if need be, between uninstalling the updates or,
when both have been uninstalled.

Create a folder on the C:\ drive and name it Downloads if one does not
already exist.
Download KB925902 from here:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=eeaee4a7-4858-4b6b-9c6d-a9f1eae19b51

SAVE it to C:\Downloads, do NOT run it !
Close the browser and ANY other open programs.
Go to Start > Run > type in :

"C:\Downloads\WindowsXP-KB925902-x86-ENU.exe" /o

[ Note the blank between the last quote sign and the parameter /o ]

Click OK or press Enter.
The /o switch should help overwrite OEM files.
Restart the system.

Download KB935843 IF one of these printers/drivers are installed:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/935843/
• Ricoh LAN Fax Driver
• Gestetner P7026n PCL
• Ricoh Laser AP2600N PCL
• HP LaserJet 9050
• HP LaserJet 4200
• HP 4050 PCL6

Close the browser and ANY other open programs, then install it.

If not, then download KB935448 and save it to C:\Downloads, too:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...88-3131-429C-8FCB-F7B3B0FD3D86&displaylang=en

Go to Start > Run > type in :

"C:\Downloads\WindowsXP-KB935448-x86-ENU.exe" /o

[ Note the blank between the last quote sign and the parameter /o ]

Click OK or press Enter.

Did that resolve the issue ?

After I asked my question yesterday I went ahead, out of desperation, and
decided to remove the Realtek driver and then went to their site and
downloaded it from there. Interestingly enough it was 9 or so MBs larger
than before. I assume they did something to fix it. I restarted my computer
and the problem went away. I had already removed KB935448 and reinstalled
from your site. I will print out the instructions you gave me in case this
happens again and am grateful for your quick response. Thank you for your
efforts on my behalf!
